Hey everyone! It's been a bit quiet on our front here, but we are working to get Pokemon of Avalon up and running again. However, there are some things we would like to bring to everyone's attention and if possible, we would like your opinions on.

To start, Eclipse: The changes to the website as a whole have been jarring for nearly everyone, to say the least. Format, submission, and writing entries have changed so drastically that things feel honestly out of place in a lot of respects. Journals themselves have changed painfully for us in the way we do our storytelling. Despite this, and despite knowing that this change will eventually hit groups at some point, we will not be closing the group for any reason short of losing a platform entirely. And even then, we’d probably find a way around that too. So, what will we be doing with our storytelling then since the journal update has been so crippling?

The wiki: All story related journals have been transferred over to our wiki in their fullness. Additionally, this is where we will post story journals from now on. We are still working on making the wiki as easy to navigate as possible, but for now you can get to most resources without much issue. Don’t fret though about missing anything, all story journals will be announced in the group still and latest updates will be posted in the news section on the front page of the wiki and we will do the same for the group page. On that note-

The group page itself: Knowing this big change, we will likely allow the group to drop out of super status. Having to pay quite a bit of money to upkeep features that won’t work as well anymore is just not worth it. So the group page will primarily be to keep everyone informed and of course be the main platform for participation. We may change this decision depending on different factors, but for now this will be the direction we’re going.

Your opinion: We want to know what you guys think on all this. We wanna know what we can do for all our members to make this group to be as functioning as possible. If you think an additional feature should be added, or something can be changed for the sake of quality of life, let us know about it in the comments of this journal. We are going to try to address everything we read and we encourage you to use the new upvote feature to show support for suggestions you agree with. If a good handful of members agree with each other on something, we will greatly consider making a change for you all.

We want Pokemon of Avalon to continue running the long haul in these complicated times and beyond and we want to be able to do this along with all of you. So please, let us hear your suggestions, big or small! And now on to our final topic.

Mission 15 part 2: The mission is currently delayed primarily due to real life events happening with the admins. We’re hoping to be able to get back into working on it soon, but for now, we might need to push it back till July or later for the sake of our sanity. Once we get things going again, we’ll move forward with posting it on the wiki and updating everyone with the new content.

For now though, let us know your thoughts and please, stay safe everyone.

this entire thing is very confusing in terms of where the images show up in line with

Unknown Icon small

the text.

looks like the images don't align properly without text being above them. this is frustrating

it doesn't seem to actually function properly

so I guess the correct way to do this would

be to add all the text first than then go back and add in the images. but who's to say that they will line up correctly without a buttload of text accompanying them

trying to find a work around for this

Unknown Icon small

lacking a preview function is just really bad, because the images jump if the text block isn't large enough to contain it to a specific side

it looks like adding images into text also causes a massive jump and jumbles everything

this is not viable

You've probably already seen this several other times from different users, but just in case. New accounts, usually with names that have the makeup of a verb, noun, and number (affectedoil6 in the case of the one I got), have been making their rounds in people's notes by stalking the favorites of front page artists. Pretty much, if you fave a new picture that a front page artist makes, you are bound to get a note from one of these folks.

The note will claim that you have won a random raffle for faving the art of that front page artist and that you can claim a prize from a link they provide. It should go without saying that this is a scam known as phishing, where people pretend to be a reputable company or person to attempt to get you to enter your personal information on their website. So, do not click the link, don't even visit the site to see what's going on, there are chances that it has keyloggers and no amount of incognito mode will save you. Mark the note as spam, block the user, and get ready to do it again when they inevitably make another account to do the same thing again.

The new year is off to a exhausting start, so please keep safe out there folks!

Whoops

Tagged waaaay long ago by :iconkittyhawk456: and forgot to post this (been in my stash for ages)

Rules:
1. Post these rules
2. List eight facts about your character
3. Tag eight other characters (nah)
4. List the names of the tagged character next to their creators usernames (naaaaaaah)

Character: Liam

1. Liam is Ima's 3rd child. He would have had two older siblings had it not been for some extremely harsh winters. The first was laid in November and never managed to hatch. The second was laid much earlier in the year and hatched in July, but the child didn't survive the first few weeks of winter. Liam hatched much later than he should have, which was in September. But he managed to survive his first winter.

2. Snow and very cold temperatures provoke a lot of bad physical memories. Bad things just seem to happen in winter for this poor boy. Sometimes these sorts of memories come with phantom pains as well. Either way, he's had very few good experiences during the winter and in cold places. When winter rolls around, or he finds himself in a very cold environment, he becomes very irritable, short tempered, and antisocial, which only further exasperates other problems. He keeps fairly busy during the winter months, in a somewhat vain attempt to distract himself. This keeps him on the move, but if you would try to stop him he'll be in quite the foul mood if you want to talk about anything other than giving him work.

3. Liam is cursed. Happened about when he turned 23; just happened to be in the wrong place, at the worst time, and in the most terrible of circumstances. A story to tell later. But, the essence of it is that, he slowly goes blind under specific conditions. Wielding a weapon, fighting in general, aggressive action, harming anyone, you get the idea. These actions all drain his sight away with variable levels of potency, the more aggressive the act, the faster it dwindles. And if should he kill someone? His sight is just gone, instantly blind. Neve can reverse this effect, essentially resetting it back to 0, but not remove it entirely. So it's only ever just a small, short lived relief. It's a huge source of frustration for Liam, considering his job, as well as a terrible source of anxiety for him.

4. Liam needs to be around others. While he doesn't seek out the company of others, he does need to be within it. He's not terribly talkative, but just having others talk keeps his mind busy and focused on the moment. Left to his own thoughts for too long, he tends to focus too far inward, making him increasingly agitated, more susceptible to making irrational decisions, and lowering his general perception of the things around him. Not to mention, silence bothers him a lot more since receiving his curse. Gavin, being naturally chatty, easily counters this most of the time and, when he notices his friend being extra quiet, he's learned to try to draw his attention to himself or something around them. Bayard's general presence doesn't help nearly as much as Gavin, but the Arcanine talks just enough to keep Liam's focus, which is good since he follows him everywhere now.

5. Liam is somewhat religious. Growing up in his tribe, there were many stories about how the world worked and how it wound around the patrons of the land. And how their own patron guarded their people, which lead to a reverence of fire, which further influenced many of the tribe's practices. Funeral pyres, chasing away bad luck and evil spirits, fertility, creation, destruction, and many other things, but most importantly, a source of life. Though he's learned plenty in that some of these things were born of superstitions and such, he still practices some small rituals and adheres to a few ideals and holds faith in his nation's patron, seeing the patrons as sources of protection for the people of the lands they guard and a pillar of peerless power. Well, hm, M10 changes a lot of things. But, can't talk about that yet.

6. Liam puts his family and loved ones very far before himself. He will absolutely put himself into harm's way to make sure that those he cares for will be alright. Like, won't even think to question his own safety, he's jumping in head first. This will sometimes clash with his morals and beliefs, but the lives and safety of those he cares for comes first in every scenario and he will not regret that decision, no mater the consequences.

7. Liam has been weapon trained with everything his tribe makes. Having a blacksmith for a dad, a leather worker for a mom, and a whole slew of others around who fiddle with craftsmanship, there was always a lot to try out. And Liam was always eager to see how the next thing that came about worked, so this boy knows how to work with quite a lot. Some weapons he enjoys are bows, bolas, swords, and sword breakers. But above all, he loves using polearms.

8. Liam is very open to trying new and different things at least once, unless they go against his beliefs and/or morals. He's gained some bad habits over the years because of this trait. Though he doesn't own his own, he will smoke a pipe when offered, enjoying anything that calms his nerves. He'll gladly go for a drink and stay at the bar for hours for more, especially if he's not feeling great. He'll try a new type of food he's given, even if the appearance or ingredients seem very unappetizing. Not everything sticks though. He's tried learning writing and reading, but didn't wanna bother much beyond a few key words to know because he found the process frustrating. And he's attempted to learn different crafts from the members of his tribe, though none of them have held his interest.

The tag is to "list your #1 favorite Pokemon from each of the current 6 generations and tell why". Then, you're supposed to tag 6 others. (it was first nicknamed the 666 meme apparently, ha) Sorry to say though, but some generations I have too hard of a time picking just 1, haha. Oh well! Let's get on with this show of mostly fists and feathers.

Gen 1:
Fearow / Hitmonchan
Fave by generation - 1 by whmSeik

So gen 1, ah, it's hard to pick from gen 1 really because I can't really tack down a true fave. Nothing really grabs my interest like it did in gen 5. But these two are high in the list for me. I remember when I was first playing Red I liked Fearow's cry a lot as well as its game icon, also, Drill Peck was great. I also really like Hitmonchan, picked it in Red and loved having all the different elemental punches to use on everything. Coming to realize in gen 3 that I really loved all the fighting types that were out so far just further cemented my like of them.

Gen 2:
Tyrogue
Fave by generation - 2 by whmSeik
Loved this little bean when I finally found one in Silver. And then again in Crystal for the tiny little fist shake. Their design is cute and the prospect of evolving into several different things like Eevee was really cool. Though a lot more complicated haha. I know didn't understand the games very well back then, so I got a Hitmonlee and Hitmontop before I got the Hitmonchan I wanted, but hey, they were all cool and I needed all their dex info no matter how I went about it. It sucked that they didn't learn anything naturally, but I suppose that was the idea. A little dude who wants to grow stronger despite the odds. I want to protect this tiny punch nerd and see it grow up healthy.

Gen 3:
Marshtomp / Medicham
Fave by generation - 3 by whmSeik

Another one I really couldn't pick for. Gen 3 was where, as previously stated, I realized I loved all fighting type Pokemon. However, let me talk about this durpy fish first. Marshtomp is fantastic. Hilariously, I didn't know how much I enjoyed it and its goofy self till I drew it for my sister's friend one day. And then I realized, "Oh man! This goofy fish is awesome! Look at this squishy thing!"  Its design is cute, its evolution is great (mega as well, bruh), and it's fun to draw. It's also like, one of the only non-fighting type or bird that I really like. Now, Medicham, I really loved using them in Ruby. Had a lot of hours on that game and had a Medicham for quite a bit of it. They were really strong and their designs are very cool looking to me. The one I had helped in the process of wiping out everything in the way with my Blaziken.

Gen 4:
Chatot
Fave by generation - 4 by whmSeik
I'm seeing a pattern outside of the random fish that wormed its way into my likes. Birds and fighting types. If it punches/kicks or is covered in feathers, there is a good chance I love it. When I was playing Pearl I had no idea these guys existed, avoided leaks and whatnot. But oh man when I found one! Love parrots, had one at the time, but just, the cry, the design, the amusing thing they did with chatter, Chatot is awesome. I find them absolutely charming. And with X, I actually had 2 Boomburst birdies that I had a lot of fun using in random things around the end game stuff. These little dudes just beat out Gallade in terms of my 4th gen fave, and they were my top fave for a while, but then 5th gen rolled around. I still love 'em though!

Gen 5:
Sawk
Fave by generation - 5 by whmSeik
If ya thought something else would be here, then I don't know what to tell ya other than I think you haven't spent much time in my gallery, haha. (Had to include my main three nerds in this doodle, sorry not sorry.) But anyway, Sawk was one of those that didn't get leaked early, that or I never saw it before the the games came out. So when I found one for the first time in game, I was really surprised. More so because, I was playing White, and I thought they were an exclusive catch for Black (I had a Throh for a majority of my game, his name was Shift and he was awesome). But, Sawk's design just really grabbed at me when I saw it and my brain went "That. That right there. That is your favorite Pokemon."; It looked hella cool, the cry was awesome sounding, and they were strong. Learning all the neat little background stuff on them was cool too; like how Sawk and Throh were originally intended to have horns instead of the crests so they would look like the red and blue Oni, but the design was altered so they wouldn't look too much like Tornadus and Thunderous.

I could keep going for a while on this, but I think you get the idea, haha. Either way, all time fave. Maybe they'll get a mega one day haha. 5th gen needs more mega evos for all the punch nerds.

Gen 6:
Hawlucha
Fave by generation - 6 by whmSeik
Another Pokemon that wasn't leaked early really. Not exactly anyway. I remember the first blury screenshot of Hawlucha, so many people tried to debunk it. But hey, lucha hawk was real and I am so glad for that. I really enjoy the design for these guys and their cry, and if only gamefreak had put all the elemental gems in the game, I would have loved to have used an Acrobatics+Flying Gem+Unburden Hawlucha in fights. But hey, even without that combo, they are still awesome feathered punch nerds. Like, the combo of fighting type AND being a bird really draws me to these guys, best of both worlds right there. While it can't pass Sawk as all time fave, they're still in my top 5. Birb.

----

In conclusion, 7th gen needs more punchy nerds and birbs. These are absolutely necessary.
Supposed to tag six people for this, but, aaah-  Again, anyone who wants to do this, go for it!
The previous people for this used images that already existed, but I wanted to make my own doodles. So I doodled all these guys from memory, so if any of them look off that would be why (I still haven't gone to check either, aaaa). But yeah, go for it! And make sure that if you use other people's images for this to link back to them!
